Responsibilities
  • • Establish/design/configure automation control system network environment, including but not limited to hardware and media selection, traffic analysis, segmentation, redundancy, and security; direct system installation; define, document, and enforce system standards as required.
  • • Consult and advise clients and customers regarding automation control network infrastructure such as topology, media, switching and routing, VLANs and segmentation, loop prevention, convergence with business networks, etc.; collaborate with client/customer network architects on automation control network design and optimization.
  • • Work with project engineers to develop IP addressing range(s), subnets, VLANs, to meet customer/client needs for automation control network devices.
  • • Develop network system specifications for creating bill of materials for networking projects, including estimating labor hours for network build-out/configuration.
  • • Develop and maintain network drawings and related documentation.
  • • Provide on-site support to software and control system engineers in control system integration, including testing and troubleshooting network devices.
  • • Candidates need to possess good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management, clients, and vendors.
  • • Candidate should also be self-motivated and capable of working in a project team environment.
Education
  • • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical degree. Current CCNA certification - higher/additional certifications a plus.
Experience
  • • Minimum 5 years of experience and demonstrated ability to configure Cisco switches/routers, Allen-Bradley Stratix switches required. Experience with Siemens switches/routers a plus.
  • • Experience with the following is preferred but not required: understanding of virtual server technologies and Microsoft Windows Server (2008 & 2012); ability to configure Cisco ASA devices/firewalls/set access control lists; experience installing/terminating copper UTP cable and/or fiber; understanding of manufacturing control systems and PLC communications.
